The project involved repairs and refurbishment of a 107 foot diameter x 31.75 foot high fuel storage tank originally built in 1916. Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. performed an inspection and MFE floor scan of the existing floor plates, revealing 76 holes in the floor that were leaking. The area beneath the floor plates was purged with nitrogen and 12" x 12" patch plates were welded in place. Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. also repaired holes in the roof to prevent water intrusion. Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. designed and replaced the existing 6" inlet/outlet nozzle with a 12" nozzle and tank doubler plate. A new 12" schedule 40 pipe spool was fabricated onsite and installed to connect the existing valve with the new inlet/outlet nozzle. A new 6" drain double block and bleed valve was also installed. The tank interior was abrasive blasted with recyclable steel grit abrasive. Rivets and seams were epoxy caulked before 40 mils of a Modified Epoxy/Novalac Polysulfide tank coating was applied. |
