This project involved concrete repairs to the lock wall monolith joints; lock de-watering; lock lift gate repairs and modifications; tainter gate cover plate installation; tainter gate and lift gate hoist wire rope replacement; miter gate machinery work; compressed air bubbling system work; fender replacement; floating mooring bits replacement; and main lock and auxiliary lock electrical work.

The lock de-watering work required the following work: sealing of the lock chamber and emergency bulkheads; lock culvert bulkheads and lock chamber maintenance bulkheads; installation, operation and maintenance of the de-watering system; and re-watering of the lock chamber and removal of the de-watering system.

The lock lift gate repairs and modifications required extensive structural steel repair and strengthening work including the following: rubber seal removal and replacement; skin plates installation; reaction plates installation; seal plates removal and replacement; diagonal bracing repairs; reaction roller repair; additional bracing and D-rings; fender removal and replacement; wall quoin repair; water-tight doors; installation of guide wall ladders; and painting.

The majority of the work (including additional work outside the scope of the original contract) was completed during the annual winter shutdown period of the Melvin Price Lock & Dam.
