This project involved abrasive blasting 1.1 million square feet of steel to near-white metal (SSPC-SP 10), and painting with a three coat Wasser High Tech Coatings moisture cured polyurethane system. A SSPC Class 1A containment was utilized for blasting/painting operations. Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. abrasive blasted over 1 million square feet and Rainbow Painting, Inc. blasted the other 55,000 square feet of steel. Approximately one-third of the work was performed on the Minnesota steel girder approach spans, and two-thirds of the work was performed on the Wisconsin side. The work also included 2,000 square feet of concrete repair and 289,500 square feet of special surface concrete finish.
