Roxane Svoboda, Executive Secretary

Roxane has earned her Bachelor of Arts in German from Minnesota State University Mankato.

Kristine Svoboda, Assistant Secretary

Kristine started working with Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in 1993, working as as a laborer during the summers to earn money for college. Between 2001 and 2005 she was the main point of contact for our Hawaii operations and enjoyed working with the owners and project managers on a daily basis. Currently Kristine is living in Southern California and is involved in a variety of business activities. Kristine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and an MBA both from Hawaii Pacific University.

James Svoboda, Vice President

James started working for Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in the summer of 1993 at Aloha Stadium, and continued to work on various projects each summer through the remainder of his High School and College years. After graduation he gained two more years of field experience in Hawaii before joining the estimating & project management department in the Minnesota office in 2003. James currently oversees the Hawaii operation, and is gaining a lot of experience in all facets of business and construction management. James earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the Labovitz School of Business & Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Don Holle, Vice President

Don began work with Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in 1989. He spent almost 10 years overseeing the general administration of our Hawaii operations. More recently, Don has managed the work on the VLF Tower Repair Project in Maine. He is a certified NACE inspector and has almost every SSPC certification imaginable. Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from University of Nebraska.

Norm Van Haaften, Controller

Norm oversees day to day financial operations of company. Prior to joining Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in 2000, he worked as a Controller in the equipment leasing and technology businesses for 30 years. Norm graduated from the American Institute of Business College.

Norbert J. Norman, Safety & Health Officer

Norbert joined Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in 2007. Before coming to Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. he was an Occupational Health Compliance officer for the Minnesota Department of Health, and worked as an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at the University of Minnesota Duluth for 25 years. At UMD Norbert also taught part-time as an instructor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Masters of Environmental Health & Safety program. Norbert is a CIH and holds Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees in Mathematics from University of Minnesota and a Master of Science in Industrial Safety from University of Minnesota Duluth.

David Grant, California General Manager

David worked for his family electrical contracting business every summer, and by the age of 18 was one the youngest journeyman electricians in San Diego. In 1985, David went on to obtain his contractors license, and managed numerous residential, commercial, and industrial electrical projects as a subcontractor. Before joining Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in 2000, David gained 15 years of experience as Chief Estimator and Project Manager for a large General Engineering contractor specialized in painting, mechanical, and pile driving. As the California Area Manager he is responsible for the Southern California office day-to-day operations including estimating, negotiating contracts, project management, and overseeing supervision, safety, and quality controls.

Ryan Glen, Project Engineer

Ryan has worked at Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. since 1996. Ryan is a registered EIT with the State of North Dakota. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of North Dakota, where he majored in Structures Design and minored in Transportation Design.
